Project approvals

PARIS - Meetings of the Executive Committee and Administrative Council on 15 and 16 May 2008 – 308 million euros worth of projects approved.

Estonia
This project, with KredEx (Credit and Export Guarantee Fund), concerns the financing of renovation works in apartment buildings in order to improve their energy efficiency (35 million euros).

Hungary
This project, with the Government, is aimed at the financing of investments in favour of flood prevention and water management investments under the EU Environment and Energy Operational Programme (63 million euros).

Iceland
This project, with Municipality Credit Iceland, aims at improving access to medium/long term loans to Icelandic municipalities for the financing of their social infrastructure investments, thereby decreasing their cost of funds (30 million euros).

Poland
This project, with Europejski Fundusz Leasingowy S.A., consists in the partial financing of productive investment sub-projects undertaken by SMEs in the form of leases, therefore contributing to the creation of new jobs and to the reinforcement of those SMEs' competitiveness (130 million euros).

Portugal
This project, with Banco Espírito Santo S.A., will enable to finance municipal investments and contribute to the preservation of the environment by promoting the production of energy with renewable sources (50 million euros).

Since the beginning of 2008, the Council of Europe Development Bank has approved 18 projects, for a total amount of 965 million euros.
