Regional Housing Programme governing bodies met in Paris to take stock of progress made in 2013

6 December 2013

PARIS - The 3rd meeting of the RHP Steering Committee and the 5th meeting of the RHP Fund Assembly of Donors took place on 6 December 2013 in CEB’s office in Paris to take stock of progress achieved in 2013 and to look into the implementation plans for 2014.

The Assembly of Donors elected a new co-chair for the forthcoming 12-month period: the U.S.A. will be replaced by Switzerland which will, together with the European Commission, chair the RHP governing bodies in 2014.

The Assembly of Donors also approved two new project grant requests to be financed from the RHP Fund: EUR 4.3 million and EUR 11 million to Croatia and Serbia respectively. This brings the total number of project grants approved in 2013 to 12, totalling EUR 61 million. These projects should provide sustainable housing solutions to more than 8 000 vulnerable refugees and displaced persons in the four Partner Countries.

The RHP Steering Committee agreed that a number of major milestones such as the setting up of the legal framework for the RHP, including the signature and ratification of the Framework Agreements between CEB and the four Partner Countries, were reached in 2013. The RHP Steering Committee emphasised the importance to deliver the first housing solutions to beneficiaries during the first half of 2014.
