57th Joint Meeting in Reykjavík
The Joint Meeting brings together the CEB’s governing bodies, appointed officials and management to discuss policy priorities for the Bank and to approve new investment projects. This year’s Joint Meeting discussions focus on the role of the CEB in supporting its member states in disaster risk management as well as Climate Change and the Just Transition.

Joint Meeting background
The 57th annual Joint Meeting of the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) will be hosted by the Government of Iceland. The annual meeting, which is a high point on the CEB’s calendar, brings together members of the Governing Board, Administrative Council, the Governor and CEB senior management for discussions on Bank priorities.
On 7 June, the Joint Meeting will start at 9:30 am with opening remarks from high-level representatives; it will be open to media and will be streamed live. The Joint Meeting will be followed by the meetings of the Governing Board and the Administrative Council (closed to media) to discuss the CEB’s priorities and consider new social investment projects for approval, including in Iceland.
On 8 June, delegates will visit the Hellisheidi Geothermal Power Plant, a project of Reykjavík Energy that the Bank helped finance with an ISK 14 817 million loan (approximately EUR 170 million at the time) in 2007. The project has improved access to electricity and hot and cold water for the inhabitants of Reykjavík and surroundings (over 50% of the Icelandic population). The visit is not open to the media.
The Joint Meeting was be preceded by the CEB Award on Social Cohesion 2024 at a reception on 6 June, which was also streamed live on the CEB’s LinkedIn page.
