CEB Award for Social Cohesion 2024 launches with increased prize of €45,000
22 January 2024
Paris – The Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) is pleased to announce the launch of the fifth edition of the CEB Award for Social Cohesion, featuring in 2024 an increased winning prize of €45,000.
The Award recognises initiatives that address pressing social issues in communities and make an outstanding contribution to social cohesion in Europe.
In a tangible show of support to social entrepreneurs and social economy organisations in the CEB’s member countries, the Bank’s shareholders increased the amount of the prize for the winner of this year’s Award, from €25,000 to €45,000. In addition, another two shortlisted projects will receive €5,000 each.
“By increasing the winning prize, we aim to further encourage and empower individuals and organisations dedicated to building inclusive societies,” said CEB Governor Carlo Monticelli. “We look forward to recognising innovative and impactful projects and helping them amplify their positive results.”
The Award is open to individuals, non-governmental organisations, social enterprises and community groups that have developed and implemented projects with a strong social impact. Projects fostering inclusion of vulnerable groups are particularly encouraged to apply.
Nominations are accepted until 18 March 2024 23:59 CET (Paris time). They will be assessed on their social impact, sustainability and innovation by a panel of CEB staff with expertise in project management, sustainability, monitoring and evaluation.
The most promising shortlisted projects will be reviewed by an independent Jury of eminent experts. The winner will be announced at a ceremony to be held in Reykjavik, Iceland, on June 6, during the 2024 Joint Meeting of the CEB’s Governing Bodies.
Eligibility
The competition is open to organisations and individuals over the age of 18, based in one of the CEB’s 43 member countries.
In 2024 project nominations from Ukraine will be eligible to compete for the CEB Award for the first time, following Ukraine’s accession to the Bank in June 2023.
Nominations are accepted in English and French through a dedicated platform.
