CEB Award for Social Cohesion 2024: shortlist announced

PARIS – The Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) is pleased to announce nine finalists for the CEB Award for Social Cohesion 2024.

Launched in 2020, the CEB Award recognises outstanding contributions to social cohesion across Europe. In a tangible show of support to social entrepreneurs and social economy organisations the Bank’s shareholders have decided to almost double the amount of the prize.
In 2024, the CEB Award will bestow a €45,000 prize on an outstanding project that addresses pressing social issues in one of the Bank’s 43 member countries. In addition, another two shortlisted projects will receive €5,000 each.
Selected among more than 100 nominations from 27 countries, the shortlisted projects for this year’s edition of the award include:
Barka Foundation for Mutual Help, Poland
The project supports the social and professional integration of migrants and refugees in Poland, with a year-long educational curriculum, and community social and sporting events.
ComActivate, Slovak Republic
The project addresses energy poverty in the Central and Eastern Europe by improving energy efficiency in apartment buildings, primarily helping vulnerable populations.
Mobile Support for Children, Türkiye
The project helps earthquake-affected children in rural Türkiye through humanitarian and mental health support, focusing on disadvantaged villages hosting refugees.
Our elderly, our future, Spain
The project helps people over the age of 65 in Catalonia overcome social isolation through weekly home visits, telephone calls, and accompaniment to medical appointments.
Safe Path Group, Ukraine
The project identifies and clears explosive hazards across designated areas in Ukraine, allowing citizens to rebuild their lives in a secure environment.
School That Connects, Poland
The project supports the integration of Ukrainian refugee students into the Polish education system through mental health workshops, anti-discrimination training for teachers, and consultations for children and their guardians.
Soliguide, France
The project provides an online platform mapping useful places and services, such as food banks and legal advice centres, for people experiencing precarity in France and Spain.
SzkoUA, Poland
The project supports the integration of Ukrainian refugee children in Warsaw through a dual curriculum and by employing teachers from Ukraine.
United by the Mountains, Poland
The project promotes mountain hiking for people with disabilities in Poland by organising hikes and providing specialised wheelchairs, stretchers, and care from physiotherapists and psychologists.
An international Jury of experts will select the winner of the CEB Award 2024 and two runners-up. The announcement will be made at the Award ceremony, taking place on 6 June in Reykjavík, Iceland, ahead of the CEB’s 57th Joint Meeting. The Joint Meeting brings together members of the Bank’s Governing Board, Administrative Council and Senior Management in one of the Bank’s member countries.
