Joint Meeting of the CEB in Malta

PARIS - At the invitation of the Maltese Government, the 48th Joint Meeting of the CEB, bringing together the Institution’s Governing Board, Administrative Council and Management, was this year held on 14 and 15 June in St Julian’s (Malta).

The highlights of the meetings included:
- Resolution on Kosovo’s accession to the CEB 
- Review of the present Development Plan 2010-2014
- Corporate Social Responsibility Report
- Approval of nine loan requests for a total of € 333 million, bringing aggregate approvals in 2013 to € 1.4 billion

The Joint Meeting of the CEB was preceded on 13 June by official meetings of Governor Dr Rolf Wenzel with Finance Minister Prof Edward Scicluna and Central Bank Governor Prof Josef Bonnici. On 14 June, Prime Minister Dr Joseph Muscat offered a reception to the participants of the Joint Meeting.

At the joint session of the Bank's Governing Board and Administrative Council on 15 June, Finance Minister Scicluna delivered the opening speech in which he characterised CEB as “a well-established bank with good financial credentials, but with a social conscience”.

Participants also paid a visit to the “Mater Dei Hospital”, the one major project financed by CEB in Malta, with approved loans of up to € 215 million. CEB’s support will be recorded in a commemorative plaque which the Governor offered to the Hospital’s management.

Next year’s Joint Meeting of the CEB will be held in Sarajevo at the invitation of the Government of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
