Project approvals

VATICAN CITY - Meeting of the Administrative Council on 10 June 2010 - 414 million euros worth of projects approved.

Cyprus
A project worth 95 million euros with the Government to finance the modernisation of school infrastructure in order to meet the needs of the country’s school population dynamics. The CEB funds will be used for the construction and rehabilitation of primary schools, secondary general education schools and secondary technical vocational education schools throughout the country. Some 30 000 pupils will directly benefit from this project

Ireland
A project worth 125 million euros with the subsidiary of the Irish National Development Finance Agency to part finance infrastructures in the field of administrative and judicial public services. 

Poland
A project worth 200 million Polish Zlotys with the city of Warsaw aimed at financing investments in the urban modernisation, health, education and administrative public services sectors, in order to provide better living conditions for the local population and to reduce the gap between Poland and the more developed economies of the European Union. 

Portugal
A project worth 100 million euros with Banco Espírito Santo to part finance investments by local and regional authorities in Portugal and, in accordance with European Union directives, enable them to make increasingly frequent use of renewable energies and to improve their installations for the treatment of solid and liquid waste. 

Serbia
A project worth 35 million euros with the Government aimed at promoting science and research in Serbia. The CEB loan will, in particular, finance the purchase of modern scientific equipment for public laboratories as well as rental housing for young researchers in order to improve their living conditions. 

Spain
A project worth 8 million euros with Caja de Ahorros y Monte de Piedad de Madrid aimed at part financing the ACCEDER Programme, run by the Fundación Secretariado Gitano. This training programme is principally intended for the Roma population in order to facilitate their access to the job markets and thus foster their professional and social integration in Spain.
