Germany
A project worth 7.5 million euros with KfW in favour of Albania, aimed at financing the modernisation of sewage and water management infrastructure in Kamza and at renovating the road network in the counties of Shkodër, Kukës and Dibër, situated in the north of the country. Granted within the framework of the European Commission’s Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA), this loan will facilitate economic development in rural areas of Albania.
Belgium
A project for an amount of 150 million euros with VMSW, a Flemish agency for social housing whose purpose is to facilitate access to housing for disadvantaged persons or persons in difficulty. The CEB funds will be used to finance mortgage loans for households who are unable to apply to credit organisations on account of their low level of income.
Cyprus
A project worth 40 million euros with the Municipality of Nicosia to finance the “revitalisation” of abandoned neighbourhoods situated along the buffer zone. Among other things, the project provides for the construction of a new City Hall, the rehabilitation of historic monuments and the renovation of road and sewage infrastructure with a view to inciting the populations to return to live in these neighbourhoods.
Spain
A project worth 40 million euros with La Caixa, to co-finance, with the EIB, the construction and refurbishment of new installations at the Sant Pau Research Institute, which is part of the Sant Pau Hospital in Barcelona. The main objective of the project is to improve the quality of patient care and to bring the Institute’s research activities closer to the actual hospital itself. As a result, 200 researchers should see a marked improvement in their working conditions.
Poland
A project worth 205.6 million Polish Zlotys with the Podkarpackie region, aimed at financing the modernisation of regional public infrastructure, ranging from road networks to the construction of cultural amenities such as the Philharmonic Hall in Rzeszów; in the health sector, the CEB funds will be used to renovate several major hospital establishments. This project should improve the living standards of the populations concerned and enhance the region’s attractiveness.
Slovenia
A project for an amount of 40 million euros with SID Banka, the Slovenian Development Bank, to finance municipal projects aimed at renovating infrastructure for the supply of water, gas and electricity, modernising the road network and creating sports and cultural amenities. The project will also provide financing for investments aimed at improving energy efficiency within the sustainable development perspective.
