Paris – The Republic of Moldova’s Ministry of Health and the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) signed an agreement yesterday for a €86 million loan to construct Bălți Regional Hospital.

The project supports the construction of a regional hospital for tertiary, highly specialised care, with a capacity of 340 hospital beds and 78 ambulatory services beds as well as medical training for around 150 students. The new hospital will allow an estimated 900,000 inhabitants from the north of the country to access highly modern healthcare services with state-of-the-art equipment as well as quick and efficient response times to their health needs.
The CEB funding covers 80.6% of the project’s total €108 million cost. The remaining funds are provided directly by the Government of the Republic of Moldova. This investment is part of the Government of Moldova’s broader commitment to strengthening health care and public health services as well as modernising the hospital sector.
