Trust funds, which are financed by donors and the Bank’s earnings, are key to our social mission. They enable the CEB to take on more high-impact initiatives, such as microfinance projects, or provide additional support, including technical assistance and investment grants.

Our donors
Donors play a key role in the CEB's efforts to promote social cohesion across Europe. The Bank is therefore strengthening its cooperation with both the European Union (EU) and CEB member countries. In 2024, funds raised from donors increased by almost 80% compared to 2023, reaching €85 million, thanks to a particularly large contribution from the EU totalling €64 million.

Trust funds and initiatives
The Bank tailors its cooperation to the needs of beneficiaries and the funding priorities of donors. CEB member countries contribute to the Bank's thematic trust funds while the EU provides grant funding for specific projects of common interest.

Projects and beneficiaries
By working with donors, the Bank is able to respond more effectively to emergencies and provide greater support to vulnerable groups. Consequently, the CEB increasingly incorporates donor funds into its projects. In 2024, grant approvals more than doubled compared to 2023, reaching €72 million, while loans guaranteed by trust funds almost quadrupled to €95 million.
