This investment grant aims to facilitate the social integration of migrants and refugees and also of long-term unemployed persons with basic education needs by providing training courses, including language and skills training. The courses will improve the participants’ access to education and the labour market and ease their integration into community life.
To date, the grant has funded the renovation, including equipment, of the premises of the Le-Mi Café and mobilization and staff costs associated with 3 teachers and 3 social workers headed by a Project Leader. The language and basic education courses began in February 2019 and by May 2019, attendance exceeded the set target of 500 visits per month. In addition, social education and integration support has been provided to over 100 guests per month.
The project is implemented by Noris-Arbeit. It commenced in January 2019 and is currently ongoing.
