Strengthening paediatric care in Ukraine

The All-Ukrainian Centre of Maternity and Childhood, located in the city of Kyiv, Ukraine, is a leading institution for obstetrics and neonatal care nationwide. However, it is also in urgent need of physical renovation and technical upgrades.

In 2024, the Bank approved two grants totalling €350 000 to support the Ukrainian authorities' efforts to address this situation. A €200 000 grant from the Ukraine Solidarity Fund (USF) covers urgent repairs expected to be completed by mid-2025, like installing wheelchair access ramps, resurfacing the roof and modernising the electrical system. Not only are these urgent steps essential for improving accessibility and the overall patient experience at the facility, but they will also enable the Centre to continue operating while an upgrade of the facility is being carried out. This upgrade is being initiated thanks to a €150 000 technical assistance assignment financed by the Migrant and Refugee Fund (MRF), which will serve as the basis for drawing up a comprehensive upgrade.
