Digital training courses in Albania
The Albanian authorities have partnered with the CEB to develop digital skills among the population. The Bank approved a €27 million loan in 2023 to establish Information, communication and technology laboratories for pre-university students in around 600 schools across the country. To reduce the cost of the project for Albania, the loan will be blended with a €10 million investment grant from the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF) approved in 2024.
In addition, the CEB has secured a technical assistance grant to help Albanian authorities introduce procurement practices that will make the project more sustainable. The grant is expected to have a large-scale impact, as the practices developed under the project will be replicated in other projects. It is financed by the Spanish authorities through the Spanish Social Cohesion Account.
