Rural modernisation
The evaluation cycle “Improvement of living conditions in urban and rural areas” focusses on CEB-financed investments in this sector of action and encompasses a highly diverse range of operations, from comprehensive programmes that comprise a large number of small-scale local infrastructure investments (called sub-projects) to larger, stand-alone projects in support of irrigation development.
One of the on-going activities in this cycle was initiated when the opportunity arose for collaboration with another development bank in evaluating a co-financed project implemented by a national Social Development Fund for local community investments in a CEB member state. A second area of work is related to the closure of a series of individual irrigation projects in a CEB member state, which was the entry point for reviewing the social outcomes of this very sizeable and homogenous investment portfolio. Further work in this evaluation cycle will be developed on the basis of an analytical framework covering the remaining completed operations in this sector of action.
