The Public Sector Financing Facility (PFF) aims to support the borrower's budgetary expenditures for 2024-2026 by modernising aging water and wastewater infrastructure. This initiative will enhance water quality, service reliability, and environmental impacts while addressing climate change challenges like droughts and floods. It also seeks to improve energy efficiency, reduce water leakage, and extend services to new urban areas.

Final beneficiaries: over 800,000 people, including low-income populations in the Bratislava region, will benefit from improved water production, distribution, and wastewater treatment. The project aims to address gaps in service access and prevent financial strain on the utility company, which could lead to higher tariffs and social inequalities. The project will particularly aid economically vulnerable households, especially in the northern areas, by funding sub-projects that offer social value despite economic challenges.
