A € 47 million Public sector Financing Facility will part-finance the acquisition of 254 new natural gas, hybrid (diesel/electric) and electric buses, and the construction of charging stations, as well as other related infrastructure to improve the quality of the services and to reduce both carbon dioxide emissions and energy costs.
Final beneficiaries will be some 550 000 daily users of the public bus network in Barcelona and the surrounding areas, as well as visitors, who will benefit from improvements in the quality, efficiency and security of the bus system. Moreover, the foreseen investments will aim to improve the use and access to the public transport system for the most vulnerable which include the elderly, persons with disabilities, children, students and households in difficulty.
