Kosovo to become member of the CEB
17 June 2013
PARIS - Kosovo is to become a member of the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB). A resolution adopted by CEB’s Governing Board, on 14 June 2013, authorises the accession of Kosovo to the 40-member CEB.
The resolution emphasises that the decision is without prejudice to the positions of individual CEB members on the status of Kosovo.
Kosovo has now one year to complete the procedures precedent to membership.
The Bank’s loans and non-lending services will become available to Kosovo in order to strengthen social integration, to assist management of the environment and to support public infrastructure with a social vocation.
After the decision of the Governing Board, CEB Governor Dr Rolf Wenzel said: “Having in mind the pressing social needs of Kosovo’s population, we will bring in the means of the Bank to help with Kosovo’s social development.”
