Earthquake preparedness in Romania
30 June 2026To help mitigate the impact of a future earthquake, the Municipality of Bucharest commissioned in 2025 an assessment of the seismic vulnerability of more than 1 000 buildings across the city, thanks to CEB support. The assessment, which is funded by a €500 000 grant from the Disaster Prevention and Recovery Fund, will be used to prioritise investments in structural safety.

Reintegration of former inmates in Romania
30 June 2026In Romania, the CEB is working with EU, public and judicial authorities and NGOs on a pilot project to support inmates of the Timisoara penitentiary in rebuilding their lives. The CEB is providing technical assistance to establish a Reintegration Centre, funded by a €225 000 grant from the InvestEU Advisory Hub, an EU facility.

CEB approves fourteen loans totalling €1.2 billion
19 June 2026The CEB has approved 14 new loans totalling €1.2 billion for social investment across Europe. The financing targets key sectors including housing, education, healthcare and social inclusion, with significant support to Target Group Countries. Two additional loans for Ukraine bring total CEB approvals for the country to over €800 million since its accession to the Bank in June 2023.
